Professional Development Opportunities for New Teachers
We provide comprehensive support and professional development for you. Whether you are a seasoned teacher or it’s your first year, we want you to feel comfortable in your transition to our District. There are many opportunities for support and professional growth.
New Teacher Induction Program Support Includes:
- New Teacher Conference
- 3-4 days with District personnel prior to the school year
- 1 day at the campus with administrators and mentor
- Mentoring for new teachers
- New teachers are assigned a mentor from their campus
- Campus Support for New Teachers
- District support for induction/mentoring programs
- All mentors are specifically trained to assist teachers
New Teacher Opportunities for Professional Growth
- Supportive observations by mentors/experienced teachers (3 times a year)
- Master Teacher observations and feedback
- Campus content/grade level support
- New Teacher Conference
- Weekly/monthly reflection Conversations
- Campus professional growth sessions
The Department of Human Resources supports the New Teacher Induction Program by providing the following support services:
- TxBESS mentor training
- Training for the new teacher in the area of classroom management
- Funding to support mentor/induction teacher observations
- Funding stipends for mentors
